A beautiful young widow had only recently lost her husband.
Late one stormy night…
Knock…
Knock…
Knock…
She froze.
Who could possibly be visiting at this hour?
With trembling hands, she called out,
“Who’s there?”
A familiar voice answered from the other side of the door.
“It’s me…”
“…your husband.”
Her heart nearly stopped.
“W-What?!”
“That’s impossible!”
“You… you died!”
The voice replied softly,
“I know.”
“I just need one minute.”
She backed away from the door.
“No!”
“You’re a ghost!”
“Ghosts aren’t supposed to come back!”
The voice pleaded again.
“Please…”
“It’s really important.”
After a long pause…
Curiosity finally got the better of her.
She cracked the door open just a little.
“Alright…”
“One minute.”
“What could possibly be so important?”
There was a brief silence.
Then the ghost smiled and said,
“I just wanted to check in…”
“…and see how my favorite widow is doing.”
She glared at him.
“That’s it?!”
The ghost shrugged.
“Well…”
“Look who’s officially a widow now!” 👻😂
The widow slammed the door.
Even ghosts, apparently…
