The “Melania Trump body double” conspiracy theory has resurfaced after some observers noticed peculiarities in her appearance during a recent overseas trip with former President Donald Trump.
On April 25, footage of Melania and Donald Trump boarding a helicopter was shared on X (formerly Twitter), with the poster asking viewers what stood out to them.
While some people complimented the couple’s appearance and apparent happiness, others quickly revived the long-standing theory suggesting that Melania sometimes uses a lookalike stand-in.
For those unfamiliar, this theory first gained traction shortly before Trump assumed the presidency.
The earliest cited instance occurred when Melania, dressed in an outfit considered uncharacteristic for her, voted in West Palm Beach, Florida, just hours before Trump was declared president-elect on November 6.
Observers became suspicious, particularly noting that Melania wore sunglasses indoors all day — a detail many found unusual.

At the time, social media users wrote:
“This is absolutely, categorically not Melania. This imposter’s been wearing sunglasses indoors all day.”
Another chimed in, “Am I crazy, or is that a fake Melania standing next to him?”
Someone else joked, “Donnie couldn’t find Melania today so he brought fake Melania.”
Although the theory had faded somewhat, it has recently regained momentum.
Critics pointed out that Melania was spotted wearing flat shoes and a coat that appeared to be off-the-rack — choices they claim are inconsistent with her typical style.
The account Call to Activism posted the helicopter footage with the caption: “What do you notice about the way Trump and Melania just walked to the helicopter today?”
The comments quickly flooded in, reigniting suspicions:
“Melania never wears flat shoes either… I’m betting this is the fake body double Melania because the real Melania didn’t want to be stuck overseas with Trump for the whole trip.”
“Fake Melania,” another bluntly posted.
A third observed, “From the back, that is not Melania or DJT, IMO. Melania wouldn’t wear an off-the-rack coat.”
Adding fuel to the fire, some even claimed that Melania was not actually present at Pope Francis’ funeral on April 26, suggesting once again that a body double stood in her place.
This claim was largely based on her wearing a black veil, which covered much of her face, allowing, conspiracy theorists argue, for a stand-in to be substituted without detection.
Nonetheless, Melania’s behavior at the funeral appeared consistent with her usual demeanor.
At one point, Trump allegedly made a brief seven-word remark to her, to which Melania reportedly suggested his conduct, interactions that some argue only the real Melania would have with him.
The question remains: would Donald Trump really be taking quiet advice from anyone but his actual wife?
