Who Needs Royal Drama When Meghan Markle’s Family Delivers From Afar?
Palace intrigue isn’t the only source of controversy when Meghan Markle’s family is making waves from halfway across the world. Her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., is currently working on a tell-all memoir detailing their shared childhood — and he’s already hinting at turning it into a documentary next. Could this family saga be headed straight for Hollywood? Let’s take a closer look.
Thomas Markle Jr.: “This Book’s Going to Be Big!”
Meghan’s father and half-brother have relocated to a modest high-rise in Cebu, Philippines, paying around £500 a month in rent. But the move hasn’t slowed down Thomas Jr.’s ambitions. He’s full steam ahead on a memoir that’s shaping up to be pure tabloid gold.
“When it’s done, it’s going to fly off the shelves,” he declared confidently. The former lighting designer is already teasing the possibility of adapting the book into a documentary. Is he cashing in on his royal link?
“It’s not about the money,” he insisted. “It’s about principle.” Still, he admitted that he wouldn’t turn down a profit.
In a recent video, Thomas Jr. shared that he finally has time to dedicate to the project, though moving overseas hasn’t been easy.
He now lives with his father, Thomas Markle Sr., who’s been spotted using a cane to navigate the rough terrain and was recently seen sitting alone outside a local shop, notably, the day after his grandson Archie’s sixth birthday.
Tragically, he has never met Meghan’s children, Archie and Lilibet.
What Went Wrong Between Meghan and Her Father?
The rift between Meghan and her father deepened back in 2018, just before her wedding to Prince Harry. Thomas Markle Sr. was expected to walk her down the aisle but bowed out at the last moment, citing two heart attacks.
As for his move from Mexico to the Philippines, Markle Sr. previously explained that he wanted to escape the “toxic family drama” and find peace. He described his new home as “a land of culture and beauty,” adding, “I’m not running away — I’m seeking a better, more positive life.”
Meanwhile, Back in California…
While Meghan and Harry raise their children in sunny California, her half-brother is busy crafting what he calls a “game-changing” book. Whether it’s a memoir, a documentary, or both — it’s clear the Markle family drama isn’t staying behind closed doors anytime soon.
