Grandpa was telling his young grandson what life was like when he was a boy. “In the winter we’d ice skate on our pond.
In the summer we could swim in the pond, and pick berries in the woods. We’d swing on an old tire my dad hung from a tree on a rope. And we had a pony we rode all over the farm. ”The little boy was amazed,, and sat silently for a minute. Finally, he said, “Granddad, I wish I’d gotten to know you a lot sooner!”
Grandpa was showing little Johnny around the farm, and when they come to the corral, he explained,
“That’s a bull and a cow, and he’s serving her.”
A little later on, they saw horses.
The Grandpa said,
“That’s a stud and a mare, and he’s serving her, too.”
That night at supper, after everyone was seated and grace was said,
Grandma turned to Grandpa and said,
“Will you please serve the turkey?”
Little Johnny jumped up and yelled,
“If he does, I’m eating a hamburger!”
Little Johnny And His Father Went Fishing.
Little Johnny and his father went fishing one day.
After a couple of hours out in the boat, Little Johnny suddenly became curious about the world around him.
He asked his father,
“How does this boat float?”
The father thought for a moment, then replied,
“I don’t rightly know, son.”
Little Johnny returned to his contemplation, then turned back to his father,
“How do fish breath underwater?”
Once again the father replied,
“Don’t rightly know, son.”
A little later Little Johnny asked,
“Why is the sky blue?”
Again, the father replied.
“Don’t rightly know, son.”
Worried he is going to annoy his father, he says,
“Dad, do you mind my asking you all of these questions?”
“Of course not, son. If you don’t ask questions … you’ll never learn anything!”
