A young man named John received a parrot as a gift.
The parrot had a terrible attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird’s mouth was rude, obnoxious, and full of profanity.
John tried everything he could think of to change the bird’s behavior. He spoke politely to it, played soft music, and did everything he could to clean up its vocabulary.
Nothing worked.
Finally, John had enough.
One day, in frustration, he yelled at the parrot.
The parrot yelled back.
John shook his fist at the bird, but it only became even louder and ruder.
Out of desperation, John grabbed the parrot and put it in the freezer.
For a few minutes, the parrot squawked, kicked, and screamed.
Then…
Silence.
Not a sound.
After more than a minute, John became worried that he might have hurt the bird.
He quickly opened the freezer door.
The parrot calmly stepped onto John’s outstretched arm and said,
“I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and behavior. I sincerely apologize for my inappropriate conduct and fully intend to correct my unacceptable behavior from this moment forward.”
John was stunned by the dramatic change.
Just as he was about to ask what had caused such a remarkable transformation, the parrot continued,
“May I ask… what the chicken did?”
