A wealthy businessman was taking a rare moment away from his spreadsheets to clear his head on the beach. As he walked, he was shocked to see a fisherman reclining against his boat, casually smoking a pipe and watching the waves.
“Why aren’t you out there fishing?” the businessman asked, clearly bothered by the lack of productivity.
“I’ve caught enough for today,” the fisherman replied calmly.
“Well, why not catch even more?”
The fisherman shrugged. “And what would I do with the extra fish?”
“You’d make more money!” the businessman exclaimed. “With that profit, you could buy an outboard motor to go deeper into the water and haul in twice the catch. Eventually, you’d invest in high-tech nylon nets to bring in even more. Soon, you’d have enough capital for a second boat… then a whole fleet. You’d be a wealthy man, just like me.”
The fisherman puffed on his pipe. “And what happens then?”
“Then?” the businessman laughed. “Then you could finally slow down. You could sit on the beach, relax, and actually enjoy your life!”
The fisherman smiled at the ocean. “And what do you think I’m doing right now?”
