Meghan Markle has come under heavy criticism after posting what many are calling a “thoughtless” video on social media.
The Duchess of Sussex uploaded a clip showing her feet resting on the seat inside a limousine as it passed near the Paris tunnel where Princess Diana tragically lost her life in a car cra:sh.
The video, shared with her 4.2 million Instagram followers, was taken as Meghan returned from a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week—her first public visit to Europe in two years.
The footage quickly sparked outrage online, with critics branding it “tasteless” and “insensitive.”
In the clip, Meghan is seen rolling down her window as the vehicle drives past several landmarks along the Seine, including Pont Alexandre III and Pont des Invalides—just before the Pont de l’Alma, the site of Diana’s fatal 1997 acci:dent.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams condemned the post, calling it “utterly bewildering,” “beyond foolish,” and “insensitive beyond belief.” He added that Prince Harry would likely be deeply upset by it.
“I honestly can’t imagine what she was thinking—if she was thinking at all,” he told the Daily Mail.
Fans also reacted strongly across social media. One X user wrote, “What an awful video—her casually lounging as she drives over the site where Diana di:ed.” Another added, “She knows exactly what she’s doing. It’s cruel and completely unnecessary.”
