President Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, invited Melania Trump to a traditional White House event after Donald Trump won the November presidential election, but it is said that the invitation was turned down.
Melania “broke” the long-standing custom of the departing and incoming First Ladies having tea during the presidential transition, according to Jill Biden, who made this revelation in an interview with the Washington Post.
When Jill and Melania Trump met during the reopening of the Notre Dame in December of last year, Jill followed up with a note via her husband.
“I congratulated her and I offered help,” Biden said in an interview with the Washington Post. “What would be the point of nastiness?”
Jill confirmed Melania praised her “during pleasantries” when the two First Ladies finally met on January 9 at the state funeral for former President Jimmy Carter.
Melania Trump stated during her appearance on “Fox & Friends” in December 2024 that the White House transition will go more smoothly this time.
“The first time was challenging, we didn’t have much of the information,” she said.
“The information was withheld from us by the previous administration,” Melania continued.
“But this time I have everything… it’s a very different transition this time, second time around.”
When Melania returns to her role as First Lady, host Brian Kilmeade questioned if she had thought about appearing on magazine covers.
“You’re in the White House, and you’re not on the cover of any of these magazines. Do you think that will change? And would you say yes to them — the Vogues, the Peoples, whatever?”
Melania, who used to be a model, answered, “Look, I’ve been there on the covers — on the cover of Vogue, on the covers of many magazines before.
We have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine.”
